0:26Now PlayingThe University of Kansas Jayhawks brought their fourth NCAA title back to Allen Fieldhouse on Monday thanks to a second-half flurry that erased a 16-point deficit and eventually overcame the University of North Carolina Tar Heels 72-69 in an epic battle of power programs. The game was played in the Superdome in New Orleans.
It was the largest comeback in national championship history, surpassing the 1963 title game when Loyola overcame a 15-point deficit to beat Cincinnati at the buzzer, 60-58.
Fans who had gathered to watch the game at the Kansas City Power and Light District in Kansas City, Missouri, about 46 miles (74 km) east of the school's home in Lawrence, Kansas, erupted in celebration as the game ended. Fans could also be seen crowding into the street in Lawrence late Monday night.
