1:04Now PlayingSeveral apartment buildings in Ukraine's town of Borodyanka were destroyed during fighting between Russian troops and Ukrainian forces, about 40 miles northwest of Kyiv.
Russian troops occupied the town for weeks while advancing towards the Ukrainian capital in an attempt to encircle it.
Russians retreated from the city in the last days of March following the fierce fighting. The town was left largely devastated. On Tuesday a few residents came back to the town to search though the debris for their belongings.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Russian troops of gruesome atrocities in Ukraine and told the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday that those responsible should immediately be brought up on war crimes charges in front of a tribunal like the one set up at Nuremberg after World War II.
Ukrainian prosecutor-general Iryna Venediktova told Ukrainian TV that a "similar humanitarian situation" to Bucha exists in other parts of the country where Russian forces recently left, such as the areas around the northern cities of Sumy and Chernihiv.
Ukrainian authorities said the bodies of at least 410 civilians have been found in areas outside the Ukrainian capital, including Bucha, after last week's withdrawal of Russian troops, many with bound hands, close-range gunshot wounds and signs of torture.
She also said the situation in Borodyanka may be even worse.
