0:09Now PlayingNew York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday.that the state will continue to provide reproductive care - including abortions- if the U.S Supreme Court strikes down Roe v. Wade.
"My message to women all across this country is that New York, the state of New York, will always be there for anyone who needs reproductive health care, including an abortion," the governor said.
A draft opinion from the Supreme Court that would throw out the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion rights ruling was leaked and published Monday night.
The Supreme Court confirmed the leaked draft was an authentic document but said Tuesday "it does not represent a decision by the court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case."
About half of U.S. states are expected to ban abortion if Roe falls and 13 states have so-called trigger laws that would immediately ban abortion if it is overturned.
