0:57Now PlayingMultiple New York City subway lines were shut and streets inundated after torrential rain pelted the metropolitan area, prompting warnings about flooding in the city as well as Long Island, Connecticut and New Jersey.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency Friday across all of New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley, saying state agencies were prepared to offer assistance.
There was only “extremely limited” subway service and many stations were closed because of heavy flooding, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority said. Metro-North trains were also disrupted, the agency said.
