“More than anything, we need to change the poisonous atmosphere in Washington,” Biden said Wednesday. “We have strong disagreements, but we need to stop seeing each other as enemies.”
Biden urged Republicans in the House to work with Democrats to approve a government funding bill to avert a shutdown.
“We cannot and should not be faced with an 11th hour decision,” the president said. “We know what we have to do and we have to get it done in a timely fashion.”
