YouTube Description
as posted by the channelWhen Luigi Mangione, the man accused of fatally shooting a top UnitedHealth Group Inc. executive in Manhattan, arrived at a Pennsylvania courthouse on Tuesday, it seemed likely he would soon be on his way back to New York.
It didn’t turn out that way.
Mangione, who investigators pursued for five days until his arrest on Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, entered the courtroom wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and brown undershirt. The 26-year-old’s hands were cuffed in front of his body.
As the proceeding got underway, defense lawyer Thomas Dickey said that Mangione intends to fight extradition to New York, where the Maryland native faces second-degree murder and weapons charges in the death of Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old chief executive officer of UnitedHealthcare.
