YouTube Description
as posted by the channelPresident Donald Trump said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to begin negotiations to address the US trade deficit even as he assailed New Delhi over high duties and defended his moves to implement sweeping new reciprocal tariffs in response.
“Frankly, it no long matters to us what they charge,” Trump said Thursday at a press conference at the White House alongside the visiting Indian leader. “We’re just going to do it the easy way. We’re just going to say, whatever you charge, we charge.”
Trump’s comments came just hours after he announced reciprocal tariffs that could take effect against US trading partners, including India, as soon as April. Trump cast his decision as one he was forced to take after efforts to convince India to reduce import taxes had failed.
