President Gustavo Petro, the incumbent leftist who can’t run for re-election, called for a deeper investigation of Uribe’s killing.
The conservative senator was shot in the head while speaking to supporters in the capital’s Modelia neighborhood on June 7. Several neurosurgeries since the attack failed to save him, and he passed away at around 2 a.m. on Monday.
