1:07Now PlayingRussian President Vladimir Putin met North Korea’s top diplomat during her visit to Moscow as the two countries continue to deepen their military cooperation.
“Everything is proceeding as planned” in regards to developing relations between the two countries, Putin told North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui in a video clip of their meeting on Monday released by the Kremlin.
Choe also held talks with her Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, earlier in the day.
Moscow and Pyongyang have strengthened military ties — including by signing a mutual-defense treaty — since Putin ordered Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, now deep into its fourth year. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent troops to fight in Russia’s Kursk region to help Moscow reclaim territory that had been seized by Ukrainian forces.
