Trump defended his war effort, saying he is the first US leader to do something to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and clashed with Senator Bill Cassidy, who pushed back against Trump over his criticism of the Senate's vote to curb his ability to wage war with Iran.
The decision to delay the housing bill spoiled an opportunity for lawmakers to tout progress toward addressing voters' affordability concerns ahead of November's midterm elections, and laid bare the mutual frustration among the president and members of his own party.
