Rescue teams had yet to reach several collapsed buildings nearly 10 hours after the earthquakes, with residents searching for survivors and compiling lists of missing people on social media.
The death toll in La Guaira rose to 105, with 1,520 people wounded, and international rescue teams are expected to arrive to assist in the search for the missing.
