Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said the country’s cabinet will declare the affected areas as “emergency zones” on Tuesday, opening the door to financial aid.
The regional government of Madrid announced an initial aid package worth €30 million on Monday, which includes free-rent for up to 12 months for people who can’t return to their homes, and funds to rebuild houses.
