Thomas Plantenga, CEO of Vinted, says he has "freely borrowed" strategies from companies like Amazon and MercadoLibre to build Europe's biggest consumer-to-consumer fashion marketplace.
Vinted has created a formidable marketplace that is eating into the sales of fashion and luxury houses, with the secondhand market expected to grow two to three times faster than the firsthand one from 2025 to 2027.
The company is gearing up for a potential initial public offering, valued at €8 billion, and is expanding into the US market, where it faces established rivals like eBay and Poshmark.
