as posted by the channel

Catherine Owen Adams, Acadia Pharmaceuticals CEO speaks with Tim Stenovec and Emily Graffeo about Acadia delivering first & only FDA-approved Parkinson's drug.

She discussed the climate for biotech innovation and creation of drugs for rare diseases. The NIH has abruptly terminated federally funded critical trials in 2025. The cancellations mark the most extensive disruption to federally funded medical research in modern history, halting studies across every major disease area and undermining the stability of a $48 billion-a-year system that underpins global biomedical innovation. Researchers say the fallout extends far beyond academic labs, threatening drug development, clinical care and the country’s scientific credibility abroad.

A companion editorial called the terminations “scientifically unjustifiable” and said they violated “foundational ethical principles of human participant research,” warning that they squandered public money and left tens of thousands of volunteers in limbo.
