-Alphabet (GOOGL) shares gained on a report that the company is developing a server chip designed to optimize its Gemini artificial intelligence model. The semiconductor, called Frozen v2, may be deployed as soon as 2028, and would reduce the amount of data the chip has to move around, making it faster at responding to queries. Alphabet has seen significant demand for its tensor processing units, or TPUs, and is preparing to deliver TPUs to a select group of customers for their own data centers.
-HUT 8 (HUT US) shares rise. It announced a second 15-year, $9.8 billion lease for 352 MW of IT capacity of its 1 GW Beacon Point data-center campus in Nueces County, Texas. Analyst Patrick Moley sees the second lease showing that Hut 8 continues to have disciplined execution.
-AMC Entertainment (AMC) shares soar. The company reported strong adjusted Ebitda for the second quarter that beat the average analyst estimate. More than 4.3 million moviegoers attended AMC Theatres in the United States and ODEON Cinemas internationally from Thursday through Sunday, led by the opening of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
