AT&T added 432,000 monthly wireless phone subscribers in the second quarter, better than the 325,264 that Wall Street had projected. The company reported revenue of $31.6 billion, up 2.3% from a year ago, and adjusted earnings per share of 65 cents, surpassing expectations of 59 cents.
- Woo Jin Ho, Bloomberg Intelligence Senior Hardware and Networking Analyst, discusses Super Micro Computer. Super Micro Computer shares rose as much as 25% after the server maker issued preliminary results saying its backlog hit a record on new orders in the quarter of more than $60 billion.
- Ken Shea, Bloomberg Intelligence Senior Consumer Products Analyst, discusses earnings from Philip Morris. Philip Morris International shares hit a record after reporting a boost in demand for its smoke-free products. Shipments of smoke-free products rose in the second quarter, mainly driven by its IQOS heated tobacco devices, and net revenue rose on an organic basis.
