if it often seems like republicans have a rotating list of members who decide they will say stupid things really stupid things about guns on any given day you may be correct i don't know if they plan this out uh or i this may just be that these are the stupid thoughts that go through stupid people's heads the latest person uh to open their yap on something and say say something completely inane is uh represent representative steven scalise he's the number two republican in the house in the minority now you may know scalise from the past because well he attended a white supremacist conference uh in 2002 much in the same way marjorie taylor greene and paul gosar and others did this past year and oh they were excoriated for it except for they weren't really they were tissed tissed by kevin mccarthy who still thinks he's going to be speaker uh and nothing really happened to them well scalise the guy was able to get away with saying oh that was so many years ago all the way back in 2002 um when he went and he spoke to a conference um of euro white supremacists which he acknowledged he had done while he was a member of the state house in louisiana it couldn't be called a youthful indiscretion remember remember that during the impeachment of bill clinton um well you know some of the republicans were like oh well yes we also cheated on our wives we had youthful indiscretions henry hyde was the famous one they're like how old were you and he was like well i was 49 because he was like 112 at the time that was youthful well scalise uh was 49 when he became the republican's third ranking member in the house and this is now going bang five six years ago um but he uh was was a thirty something a forty something you know he'd have no trouble putting somebody who's black away in prison forever for real like shoplifting if they happen to do it at that time maybe jaywalking but you know if for him he was younger we all experiment you know some of us try pot some of us go skinny dipping others you speak at nazi rallies so he spoke at this neo-nazi uh european american unity rights organization or euro still made it into republican house leadership so that he could be around to say stupid things about guns today another thing you may want to know about him is he actually was shot he's one of the few republicans who has actually suffered due to the ludicrous gun policies that they've passed he's in a congressional softball game don't get me into making fun of those somebody who claimed to be a bernie sanders fan whether that's children i don't know but definitely somebody who hated him because he was a republican shot him and almost killed him he came close to dying um i don't need to go through the litany of democrats from a judge's son last year who was murdered and when our house was attacked to gabby giffords a lot more of these assassinations have happened on the left you may have heard there's no certain acronyms like mlk and jfk and rfk but it doesn't take away from the fact that scalise was shot and hurt he shouldn't have been we should have had policies in place to prevent it we didn't thankfully he lived i hate the guy i don't wish for people to die um but it seems to have just made him dumber and so he's the rotating dumb person for today he came out and said when asked about should we change any gun laws he said well we didn't ban planes after 9 11. let's see folks you need planes to fly to get from one place to another and therefore banning planes would mean no one could fly and go anywhere you don't need guns to get to school or to get to the movie theater or to get to the mall or to get to the nightclub or the bar or just to get to the streets of downtown chattanooga where kids start shooting at each other now the gun's a weapon you bring there when you want to kill people um so obviously the comparison is as stupid as as one you would expect to hear from marjorie taylor green or lauren pobert or you know it's like
