Benjamin Martin. War hero, or war criminal? The chief protagonist of "The Patriot," can be a controversial figure. So controversial, in fact, that I somehow found a way to talk about him for two hours. This entire video is a dedicated character analysis of Mel Gibson's iconic character. On his own terms, and in his own world, is Martin a good man? Or a bad man? Is he a troubled father trying his best to protect his family from the ravages of war? Or a bloodthirsty killer just looking for a chance to escape back to war? And is he a well written, realistic, and balanced character...or...well I'm sure you can finish the rest. -
