It should come as no surprise to anyone familiar with military life or history- during any time period- that non-commissioned officers (NCOs) are some of the most important people in the day-to-day management of any military organisation. They look after the men, they file extraordinary amounts of paperwork, and they enforce the will of the officers- sometimes also including informing those officers on what their will ought to be! This was the same in the 18th Century as it is today. So, what were the various roles and obligations of NCOs during the Georgian Era? This video is brief introduction to the topic.
