Jad Melki, professor of journalism and media at Lebanese American University in Beirut, shares the results of his new poll tracking political attitude in Lebanon, where support is falling among young people for “diplomacy” with Israel despite what’s being broadcast on Western-backed TV.
“The young generation carries the highest level of enmity towards Israel, the highest level of support for armed resistance, the lowest level of support for a quote-unquote ‘peace agreement’ with Israel.”
Meanwhile Iran reportedly threatened to walk away from talks with the U.S. if Israel followed through on threats to bomb Beirut’s southern suburbs — and from Trump’s response it seems to have worked.
