1:11:59Now PlayingThe billionaire agenda takes many forms: arresting and deporting our neighbors, exploiting us at the workplace, cutting our vital social services and jobs, discriminating against oppressed communities, attacking our democratic rights and civil liberties, and invading both our communities and countries around the world. Enough is enough, and people across the country are rising. People are coming to understand that, in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. Attacks like NSPM-7 are serious but not new, as there is a long history of trying to intimidate, silence, and brutalize the movements for justice. In this panel, our organizers will discuss the importance of building mass movements, alliances, and people’s solutions to the problems created by this violent, white supremacist, patriarchal, and imperialist system of capitalism. Countless people can see that the billionaire agenda is devastating the planet and strangling our communities here and across the globe, but what does it take to build a new people’s agenda? The closing panel of La Defensa del Pueblo will call on all participants to re-commit themselves to the struggle to defend our rights, expand investment in our communities, and fight back until we win.
