While Qatar built whole stadiums and Russia spent billions rebuilding venues across the country, America basically showed up and said we already have all of this. The US could literally host a second World Cup using only the stadiums it did not use for this one. But the real story is what happened off the field. European visitors have been making pilgrimages to Buc-ee's, treating gas stations like holy sites, and falling in love with free refills and clean bathrooms. Somewhere between the Walmart runs and the Waffle House stops they looked up and saw the Grand Canyon, the Tetons, the Pacific Coast at sunset and realized America actually has everything. Also the underreported story is that European dudes love America because American women are suckers for accents.
