0:17Now PlayingOn Monday night, Edmonton residents spotted a bright light in the sky west of Edmonton.
We reached out to University of Alberta meteorite expert Chris Herd to make sure it wasn’t an alien spaceship headed for landing.
And he said it was a meteor resulting from a rock coming through the atmosphere!
However, it appears to be quite far away, as the end of the fireball is at or over the horizon.
He also encourages anyone who observed the event to report it to the American Meteor Society. This allows the organization to get a more accurate trajectory.
