1:47Now PlayingThe Gang Suppression Force is a new multinational military and policing force back by the United Nations in Haiti. It has been tasked with quelling criminal violence on the Caribbean island. Canada has pledged $40 million to strengthen the UN-backed mission. The CBC’s Paul Hunter was invited to join UN Secretary General António Guterres on a visit to a Haitian community where the forces will patrol.
CORRECTION (June 18, 2026): An earlier version of this video and description called this mission a UN force. In fact, it is a multinational effort backed by the United Nations.
