The US believes they'll help Ukraine in its struggle to break through Russia's front lines, heavily outnumbered in terms of manpower and ammunition.
While Russian forces have been using them for months, to deadly effect, Ukraine is also accused of using them, on their own territory - in at least three occupied locations.
