President Xi warned the US that they should be “prudent” when it comes to supplying weapons to Taiwan.
A few months ago the Trump administration announced an arms sale worth around £8.2 billion to Taiwan which concerned China as this could "accelerate" Taiwan’s goal of independence.
This sale is yet to be approved by Congress.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s president said their relations with the US are “rock-solid” despite the phone call.
President Trump is set to visit China in April.
