Brexit at 10: we fact-checked the promises. Here's what we found

It has been ten years since the UK chose Brexit by voting to leave the European Union, after a campaign built on a handful of big promises: £350 million a week for the NHS, control of our borders, trade with the world, and sovereignty returned to the British people.

Now, as Britain enters another period of political upheaval following Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer's resignation, questions about Brexit's impact on the country's economy, immigration system and political stability remain as relevant as ever.

A decade on, FourSight went back to the Vote Leave website to test every pledge against the evidence - then put the findings to one of the architects of Brexit, Lord Matthew Elliott, former CEO of Vote Leave.

We travelled to Dover to meet a haulier whose business has been hit by new red tape. We went to the Menai Strait in Wales, where a mussel farmer has lost almost everything to post-Brexit export rules. And we spoke to NHS policy experts, economists, and political scientists about what Brexit actually changed - and what it didn't.
