Dozens of bridges were also destroyed, hampering rescue efforts. More than 1,300 are missing in Nepal and across the border in Tibet. They include hundreds of foreign tourists, pilgrims and workers - 33 of them from the UK. Experts believe an avalanche triggered by a glacier collapse caused the flash flood.
