Around 100 members of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) visited the iconic landmark in Paris on Saturday. Afterwards employees went on strike in protest at the treatment of the female staff, and the Eiffel Tower was temporarily closed on Monday.
In a statement on X, the Hindu group said that to the best of their knowledge no one was prevented from accessing the Tower, but added they were taking the concerns “very seriously”.
Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire described the incident as “unacceptable” and says an investigation has been launched.
