10:52Now PlayingA lecturer with the Department of History at the Bayero University, Kano, Tijani Muhammed, says the position of the Emir still remains powerful and influential despite the protest against the selection of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi, as the new Emir of Kano State, after Dr Ade Bayero Died on June 6.
Mr Muhammed attributed the protest to false social media information circulated on Sunday before the official statement by the Kano State government.
In a telephone interview on Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, Mr Muhammed said that an earlier report on the social media stated that Lamido Ado Bayero, the son of the late Emir, was selected as the new Emir of Kano.
