2:34Now PlayingIn Sub-Saharan Africa, more than three out of five caregivers face physical, emotional, and financial stress. Caregivers play a vital but often invisible role in supporting families, communities, and even health systems, yet their work is rarely recognised or supported.
With little data, research, or policies to ease their burden, many continue to struggle in silence. The BBC spoke to two caregivers: Jane Muchiri, who has cared for her husband with a spinal cord injury for 11 years, and Viona Wamanyu, who looks after both her autistic brother and her mother living with schizophrenia.
