9:44Now PlayingMalaria is still one of the leading causes of death in Nigeria. New research shows that the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum, is changing in ways that make it harder for some important medicines to be effective, including artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs).
These changes in the malaria parasite have been found in different parts of Nigeria: the Southwest, Southeast, and Northwest, raising serious concerns about whether our main malaria medicines will keep working effectively.
