Did Israel Commit a Genocide? Ro Khanna & Coleman Debate

Rep. Ro Khanna used to call himself a pro-Israel progressive. Now, he says Israel’s war in Gaza amounted to genocide, citing mass casualties and displacement of Palestinians from their homeland. Suffice to say, I disagree. I argue genocide comes down to intent, not casualty count, and I think Israel’s willingness to end the war once the hostages were returned undercuts his case. Khanna’s shift on this topic says something bigger about where the Democratic Party’s center of gravity has moved since October 7th, 2023, and how far someone who once called himself pro-Israel has traveled.
