Federal Court Says Banning Handguns For 18-20 Year-Olds Is Unconstitutional
What Happened:
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the federal law prohibiting handgun sales to adults under 21, declaring it unconstitutional. Judge Edith Jones made it clear: the Second Amendment protects ALL "the people"—not just those over 21. If the government can draft you into the military and hand you an M4, then you’re old enough to buy a handgun for self-defense.
The Gun Control Hypocrisy
Gun control groups are calling 18-to-20-year-olds “teenagers” to push their fear-based agenda—but notice how they never use that term when talking about voting rights? When it’s about elections, they’re “young adults.” When it’s about gun rights, they’re suddenly “just kids.” Which is it?
The truth is, this ruling corrects a decades-old injustice where law-abiding young adults were treated like second-class citizens when it came to self-defense. Meanwhile, they can serve in the military, pay taxes, sign contracts, and be charged as adults in court.
What’s Next?
The gun control lobby will likely appeal this decision, but thanks to the Bruen ruling, courts now have to evaluate gun laws based on actual history—not fear-mongering. If this case makes it to the Supreme Court, it’s game over. There is no historical precedent for banning legal adults from owning firearms.
Final Thoughts
This decision is a huge win for gun rights and a devastating loss for the anti-gun lobby’s weak arguments. The right to keep and bear arms isn’t a privilege—it’s a right. And that right doesn’t magically start at 21 just because gun control activists wish it did.
