YouTube Description
as posted by the channelBill Maher just made a better case for owning a gun than the anti-gun congressman sitting next to him.
During a conversation with Rep. Ro Khanna, Maher brought up the Supreme Court’s recent 9–0 decision involving gun rights and habitual marijuana users.
Then the conversation shifted to self-defense.
And that’s where everything got interesting.
Maher said he owns guns because he can’t expect police to be everywhere. That is the whole point.
If someone breaks into your house at 2 a.m., the police are not already in your hallway.
You are. Your family is. Your kids are.
And the person who kicked in your door is not waiting for policy debates, committee hearings, or public safety funding.
Khanna’s answer was to “invest in police” and warn about people taking justice into their own hands.
But defending your own life in your own home is not vigilantism.
It is self-defense.
And when Maher pressed him with the cleanest possible scenario — someone inside your house — Khanna had to admit self-defense applies.
Then immediately pivoted to Trayvon Martin and innocent people being shot.
That is the tell.
Even when you give anti-gun politicians the most obvious self-defense situation imaginable, their instinct is still to treat the armed citizen like the threat.
The homeowner becomes the suspect.
The mother with a pistol in the nightstand becomes a vigilante.
The person trying to survive becomes the problem they want to regulate.
This is why the phrase “I support the Second Amendment, but…” matters.
Everything after the “but” is where they start taking something from you.
