A couple months ago, I said a Walmart parking spot might cost one man 62 years and might cost one woman her freedom.
Now the State of Florida has weighed in:
No charges.
But the way prosecutors said it matters.
They did not say Melissa Payne was “right.”
They did not say the shooting was clean.
They said the state could not overcome her claim that she was in reasonable fear of great bodily harm.
That is a very different sentence.
