7:56:02Now PlayingCrime Talk is live from Las Vegas with ongoing coverage of Nevada v. Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the long-awaited murder trial stemming from the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed rap icon Tupac Shakur.
Nearly 30 years after Shakur was fatally shot near the Las Vegas Strip, prosecutors are presenting their case against Davis, whom they accuse of participating in and helping organize the retaliatory attack.
Davis has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors do not need to prove that Davis personally fired the fatal shots. Their case alleges that he participated in and helped orchestrate the killing.
The trial is expected to focus heavily on statements Davis made over the years about the shooting, including interviews, his memoir Compton Street Legend, and statements made during a 2008 law-enforcement interview that the judge ruled may be used at trial.
The defense has argued that some of Davis’ public accounts were exaggerated or fabricated for publicity and financial gain.
Throughout the trial, Crime Talk will follow the testimony, evidence, witness examinations, legal arguments, courtroom developments, and major moments as the case unfolds before the jury.
Join Scott Reisch and Crime Talk for live courtroom coverage, legal analysis, commentary, and discussion throughout the trial.
