Lee Thompson, author of "Theodore Roosevelt Abroad: Nature, Empire, and the Journey of an American President." In the book, Thompson not only traces the adventures of TR, but also his periods of doubt and disillusionment on the trip that focused on his conservationist legacy and how he came to believe that William Howard Taft was undermining that legacy. This partly lead to TR's return to the American political scene, when he challenged Taft and ran as a third party candidate in the 1912 election -- ultimately playing a part in Woodrow Wilson's election.
