Learn about Arizona Congressman John J. Rhodes Jr., who served as House Minority Leader from 1973 to 1981. The first Republican ever elected to represent Arizona in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was present at the August 7, 1974 meeting with President Richard Nixon at which he, Barry Goldwater, and Senator Hugh Scott informed Nixon that he no longer had enough support in the House to prevent his impeachment -- The President announced his resignation two days later. His son Tom Rhodes shares his story and talks about the impact his father made in politics.
