11:51Now PlayingSee the personal papers of William Greenleaf Eliot, co-founder of Washington University. Eliot was an educator and Unitarian minister who supported abolition/emancipation, public education, women's rights, and more. In 1834 he went to St. Louis as a missionary, and became the first Unitarian minister west of the Mississippi. He spent the remainder of his life in St. Louis, becoming one of the city's most influential and respected citizens. Housed in Washington University's Archives, University Archivist, Sonya Rooney takes us through the collection which includes his personal diaries, university documents photographs, published works including his sermons and lectures.
