Built on the banks of the North Platte River, the fort was created to protect immigrants and telegraph lines against raids from the Lakota and Cheyenne tribes. Fort Caspar Museum Director Rick Young talks about the history of the fort, and tells the stories of the Battle of Platte Bridge and the Battle of Red Butte.
