"If the Speaker of this House felt that this was mustpass legislation, the Speaker of this House should have called a vote on this bill before sending every member of Congress on recess for 10 days." House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer urged Massie not to object, saying the bill "needs to be passed as soon as possible for the welfare of our people in this country who have been attacked by natural disasters." Following the House session, Hoyer announced the House would try again to pass the disaster aid bill by unanimous consent during Thursday (5/30) 430pm pro forma session, the last one being held during this district work period over Memorial Day holiday.
