as posted by the channelThe race for U.S. Speaker is again wide open after no candidate gets a majority to be elected in another House floor vote today, with 25 Republicans voting for someone other than the Republican conference nominee Jim Jordan.
Then, House Republicans meet behind closed doors and vote to declare Jim Jordan is no longer the GOP nominee for Speaker. Republican Members return Monday to start looking for a new candidate.
There has been no permanent House speaker for 17 days.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Hamas has released two U.S. hostages it has been holding since Hamas October 7th attack on Israel and that diplomatic work continues to find the 10 Americans still unaccounted for.
President Joe Biden sends to congress a $100 billion emergency national security request that includes $14 billion for Israel and $60 billion for Ukraine, as he outlined in Thursday night's prime time speech from the White House Oval office.
Some Democratic Members of Congress hold a rally on Capitol Hill calling for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres visits the border crossing between Gaza and Egypt saying that trucks loaded with humanitarian aid must be allowed to cross now.
