Hurricane Milton moves off Florida's east coast in the Atlantic Ocean, leaving behind a path of destruction across the state from fierce winds, rain and storm surge. Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) and President Joe Biden give updates on the start of the recovery.

While there is little concern about FEMA running out of money to respond to Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene, the Small Business Administration may need an infusion of cash. President Biden and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) talk about whether Congress should return to session from recess to deal with it.

The Labor Department says inflation fell to 2.4 percent in September compared to a year ago. Donald Trump, Republican Presidential nominee, comments on it at a speech at the Detroit Economic Club.

TD Bank pleads guilty and agrees to pay $3 billion in fines on federal charges that the bank made it “convenient” for criminals to open accounts and launder money, sometimes with the willing help of bank employees. We will hear from Attorney General Merrick Garland.

We also hear portions of two high-profile U.S. Senate debates: in Maryland between Larry Hogan (R) and Angela Alsobrooks (D), and in Arizona between Ruben Gallego (D) and Kari Lake (R).

The United Nations accuses Israel of intentionally firing on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon.

Social justice activist Ethel Kennedy, wife of the late Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, has died at age 96.
