1:41Now PlayingNew Jersey Democratic Senator Cory Booker made history on the Senate floor by breaking the record for the longest floor speech on record, which had previously been held by South Carolina Republican Strom Thurmond who filibustered civil rights legislation in 1957 for 24 hours and 18 minutes. Booker yielded the floor after 25 hours and four minutes, topping Thurmond's record by 48 minutes. Booker used his speech to criticize the policies of the Trump administration and congressional Republicans, including cuts to federal government departments and Entitlement programs. Watch here
