YouTube Description
as posted by the channelGov. Andy Beshear (D-KY), chair of the Democratic Governors Association, said Thursday he will skip the White House's annual black-tie dinner for governors after two of his colleagues — Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) and Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) — were excluded from the guest list.
"When I heard that, it was a pretty easy choice for me," the Kentucky Democrat said during a discussion at the Center for American Progress. "I stand with Wes. I stand with Jared. If we're all not invited, I ain't going."
President Trump initially invited only Republican governors to the Saturday event, which coincides with the annual National Governors Association meeting in Washington, DC. After facing criticism, the White House expanded the invitation list to include most Democratic governors but continued to exclude Govs. Moore and Polis.
President Trump and Gov. Moore have publicly sparred over a sewage spill in the Potomac River. Gov. Beshear said Gov. Polis was excluded because of his refusal to pardon a former county clerk convicted on state charges related to a 2020 election data breach.
