0:53Now PlayingPresident Trump on Tuesday called the late Sen. Lindsey Graham's (R-SC) strident defense of then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh at his Supreme Court confirmation hearing his "finest hour."
"His impassioned defense of a wonderful person, a great gentleman, Justice Kavanaugh, ended a disgraceful attack on this very good man and gave us one of the greatest moments the Senate has ever seen," he said, referring to the sexual assault allegations that dogged the nominee.
"It was a truly monumental moment in Senate history. I believe it was Lindsey's, perhaps, finest hour."
The president also joked that "not everybody" liked the late senator, calling him a "tough cookie."
"No matter how heated things got in Washington, virtually everyone — Republican or Democrat — liked Lindsey. Well, not everybody. But it sounds good," he said. "He was a tough cookie, Darline, but he was beautiful."
