Rand Paul (R-KY), the chair of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, swore in Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), at the start of a hearing Wednesday on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
When questioning began, Dr. Fauci invoked his constitutional right under the Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination, citing Sen. Paul's "unhinged obsession with me" and open calls for him to be jailed.
