President Trump awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the Artemis II crew at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, on Friday.
"We gather here on these historic grounds, though, to celebrate the immense courage and service of four intrepid space heroes whose sense of daring and adventure led them further from earth than anyone has ever traveled before," the President said.
The four Artemis II astronauts, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, completed a 10-day lunar fly-by back in April, which successfully sent humans to the moon for the first time in more than 50 years.
"We wanted to inspire this nation and inspire the world," Mr. Wiseman said after receiving the award.
