1:26Now PlayingThe House voted Tuesday in a 370-48 vote to pass the stopgap funding bill to keep the federal government funded through December.
Since returning from a five-week recess yesterday, the House's priority has been to keep the government open during the midterm elections and before the September 30 deadline to pass a legislation. The Senate, in August, already passed the measure to keep federal agencies funded through December 11.
"We're continuing to do the grown-up thing and make sure we get the job done and we're happy that we just passed that continue resolution to fund the government through early December," Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters after the vote.
Hard-right Republicans had opposed this measure over concerns of provisions on the funding for planned parenthood and the lack of bans on hemp products containing THC.
The legislation now goes to President Trump.
